High and Horny? Cannabis and Sex Frequency Explored

Within the last few weeks an article looking at cannabis use and sex frequency was published in The Journal of Sexual Medicine. Some health care professionals have worried that cannabis use could impair sexual desire, but people often mention using cannabis to get in the mood. This study done by Stanford University leaned more in the direction of the latter. While more studieswill need to be done on this topic, the findings showed a "positive association between marijuana use and sexual frequency".

The study consisted of a total of 28,176 women and 22,943 men and showed the association of increased sexual activity across all demographics. That means this reigns true for all genders, ages, races, income, education, religion, etc. Individuals who used cannabis have sex more frequently than non-users, and people who use cannabis daily had sex more frequently than casual users. Overall, frequent cannabis users were seen to have 20% more sex than non-users.

What this studydoes not demonstrate is a causal relationship between cannabis use and sex. Meaning, just because you smoke more cannabis does not necessarily mean you will have more sex. One of the authors, Michael Eisenberg MD stated that it's possible that "people who are naturally inclined to have more frequent sex may be predisposed to marijuana use, rather than the other way around". There will need to be more studies on this topic before we know for sure what the relationship is, but either way it is an interesting discussion.

Even before this article was published, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that discusses cannabis being used as a sexual stimulant. Below are two different cannabis products that are geared to sex.

Hmbldt Passion and Arouse dose pens
Hmbldt's dose pens are carefully designed to include THC, CBD, and relevant terpenes for the desired effect. All of the different dose pens come with the percentages of cannabinoids and terpenes listed as well as the guarantee that each puff from the vape pen dispenses a 2.25mg dose.

FORIA Pleasure
The FORIA Pleasure spray is a mix of cannabis oil and MCT oil. The spray contains about 150mg of THC in the 10mL bottle. It is recommended to use about 4 sprays on the clitoris, inner and outer labia, and inside the vagina about 15 minutes before sexual activity. One thing to note, FORIA shouldnot be used with latex, but can be used with polyurethane or nitrile.
